I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the lovely folks at Volunteer Victoria on this upcoming workshop!
When: Tue, Oct 14 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT
About: Front line workers and volunteers are the face of many of our organizations. They’re the greeters, the direction-givers, the problem-solvers, the helpers and the explainers. Unlike positions that are less client-facing, front line workers have an increased exposure to challenging interactions.
This workshop introduces practices that can support and empower front line workers and volunteers to safely and confidently navigate anything that comes their way.
General Learning Outcomes:
• Explore the concept of bias and how it can influence our approach to conflict.
• How to create policies, plans and communication that can empower teams and influence their perception of safety.
• What happens when de-escalation doesn’t work? Learn techniques to distract, redirect, create space, get help.
• Practice scenarios that explore how body language, active listening, and assertive communication can support de-escalation.
See you there!
